  7. Pharmaceutical Industry (Pharmaceutical Industry):

  It is a light industry.  That is why cold storage, air conditioner, transport and other structural facilities have a more important role in the location of this industry than on the raw material or market place.  These facilities are better available in metropolitan areas.

  Apart from this, the demand for their products is also high here, that is why they have developed better here.  Since 1970, the industry has grown rapidly due to the availability of capital technology and better management.  At present, India has been able to meet 100 percent of its chemical formulation and 70 percent of bulk drug requirements.)

  8. Electronic and Computer Industry (Electronic and Computer Industry):

  India has made astonishing progress towards the development of these industries.  The software industry has grown at a much more rapid pace than hardware and has an average annual growth rate of about 35%.

  The software industry has been a major contributor to India's exp and we have an international reputation for their products.  That is why the Government of India is giving special emphasis on the development of human resources.  Being highly competitive private sector-related industries, their development requires progressive policy.
